Description
The Ultimate WordPress Comment Moderation Blueprint is a copy-and-paste resource for anyone running a WordPress site who is tired of deleting spam by hand. It gives you the blocklists and settings to stop bot spam natively, without paying for another plugin.
We built this because we run a WordPress site ourselves — this one — and we are based in Tamale. If you are a Northern Ghana publisher, hotelier, school, NGO or small business running your own website, this is the problem you will meet within weeks of switching comments on.
The problem, in plain terms
Open comments on a WordPress site and the spam arrives almost immediately. Most of it is automated. A small amount is worse than annoying: comments carrying links to malicious or unrelated sites, posted purely to borrow your domain’s reputation.
That second kind is the real risk. Your website’s standing with Google is an asset you built — through your listings, your guides, your business pages. Letting strangers attach their links to it spends that asset on someone else’s behalf. For a small business whose site is a genuine source of enquiries, that is a commercial problem, not just a tidiness one.
What is inside
The blueprint is organised in tiers, so you can apply the light-touch version or the strict one:
- Tier 1 — Moderation optimisation. Blocklists targeting soft promotional language and common self-promotional patterns. Keeps your queue clean while still holding genuine enquiries for your approval rather than discarding them.
- Tier 2 — Zero-tolerance keys. Aggressive terms associated with bot spam, for sites that would rather block broadly and review later.
- Copy-and-paste blocks. The lists are formatted to paste directly into WordPress’s discussion settings — no coding, no theme editing, no new plugin.
Who this is for in Northern Ghana
- Guesthouses and hotels running their own booking or information site.
- Tour operators and travel guides whose site is their shopfront.
- Schools, NGOs and community organisations publishing notices and news.
- Bloggers and online publishers building an audience in the north.
An honest note on what this does not do
This is a native-configuration approach, not a substitute for a full anti-spam service. It will cut the overwhelming majority of automated comment spam at zero cost. If your site is large or heavily targeted, you will eventually want a dedicated spam-filtering plugin as well. We would rather tell you that than sell this as a complete solution.
